Kim

Have you been wondering what happened to me once I left California? Enough of you have asked that I thought it was time I let you all know how I've adapted and what it is like here in Santa Fe, the City Different.

As you know I left California in July 2004 after being laid off from my job with the City of South San Francisco. One trip here to visit Nancy & Ines and I fell in love with the landscape, the people, and the pace of life. You're definitely not in Oakland anymore Dorothy!

The picture above was taken at Bobcat Bite a popular hamburger joint off the beaten path in Santa Fe in July of 2006. As you can see, I pretty much look the same except that I'm smiling right after getting off work!

I have settled into a nice home in La Cienega, or actually La Cineneguilla a small community just southwest of the City of Santa Fe.

I live down a dirt road right next door to Nancy & Ines and their dog Natalie Wood (seen here with my dog Gilda Radner as a puppy.) Okay, so I've moved in the last month, it is a much sweeter story the way it was! Read about Life in the semi-rural high desert outside Santa Fe on my Life in Rural New Mexico page.

Lots of things are happening in my life right now, most predominantly at work. It is a time of great change, challenge and excitement. We are growing very quickly, adding a new 11.5 acre facility in Bernalillo, NM about 40 miles southwest of Santa Fe. What that means for me is the opportuinity to completely design and implement a data and telecom infrastructure and add additional sites to our Point-of-Sale system as well as a new wholesale division. Check out the page on my work life to learn more.

Santa Fe is an interesting place to live and work. New Mexico, itself is beautiful and very different culturally than California. Santa Fe is its own oasis and a little different than other parts of New Mexico as well. Learn a little more about the history and my explorations of Santa Fe on my Santa Fe page.

Most of you do not yet know that we lost my brother Jeff after a car accident last September. He was hurt very badly but died with dignity surrounded by his wife, children and extended family a few days later. He is sorely missed by everyone in his community but very deeply by his close friends and family. The Sloans are saddened but moving ahead through this difficult time. Please visit my Jeff page and read more about Jeff and his family.

As always, if nothing changes, nothing changes, so welcome to my journey of discovery!
